New Site for Summer![]() Welcome to a vastly revised and hopefully easier to understand website. Things have been quiet at the distro in some ways but quite busy in others. The biggest change is that I have decided to cancel the Shopify online store, partly because I don't like their politics but honestly mostly because it just wasn't worth the price for a business this small. I am working on integrating my Square payment processing in this site, so please bear with me as I sort that out. If you have a gift certificate from the old online shop, let me know on the new order form and I will apply it manually if need be. As for my summer, the agenda for the forseeable future is:
All quite achievable, I think. I also want to flesh out a couple of "side hustles" that I have been slowly gathering gear and ideas for:

![]() ![]() Dave Howlett released two stunning one-shots in 2024: All-Star Composite Superman and The Disco Ripper, both showcasing Dave's love of retro comics and crime stories. If you order both from the shop you're guaranteed to get some cool bonus stuff! Colour, 2024, 24 pages; $5 each. |

![]() When an inexperienced barista accidentally starts serving mysterious (and possibly mystical) latte art, their co-workers and customers are bewildered. But it isn't easy becoming a beverage celebrity overnight, and the pressure is on to keep pouring impossibly stunning coffees. "The Usual" is the most recent of five comics by Kate Phillips added to the BRB catalog. It won a 2023 Sequential award. Colour, 2023, 24 pages, $16. |

Black Rocks Books is a micropress and zine distro run by Scott Marshall. It exists to promote and celebrate comics and illustration created in Atlantic Canada (or by our expats and imports). If you have any issues or questions, please don't hesitate to contact me via email at shop@blackrocksbooks.com or ask in the BRB Discord. You can follow @blackrocksbooks on Bluesky. If you want to follow my art stuff as well you can follow @scottmarshall on BlueSky.
Black Rocks Books operates gratefully in Mi’kma’ki, the ancestral territory of the Mi’kmaq people.
We also acknowledge that people of African descent have been in Nova Scotia for over 400 years, and we honour and offer gratitude to those ancestors of African descent who came before us to this land.
This site is always under construction, and I am a broken man on a Halifax pier doing all this. Please bear with me.
